Integrative Somatic Therapy

Integrative Somatic Therapy (ISTP)

The therapeutic value of Somatic Therapy/Body Work/Supportive Touch has a role in resolving physical and emotional symptoms related to trauma/PTSD, chronic stress/fatigue, fear, anger, depression, anxiety, shame, health conditions or complex syndromes, as well as in restoring boundaries, regulation, resiliency, empowerment and a healthy sense of self (Levine, Ogden, Kain, Terrell).

Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice™ (ISTP) weaves together 7 trauma-informed approaches which includes ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up’ practices in: mindfulness, breath work, supported postures, therapeutic touch and bodywork, movement, embodied resilience, and sound. In working together, I will help support you as you (re-)connect with your mind-body-emotions and with your own healing wisdom from within. As we work to (re-)establish a sense of safety, trust, and emotional resilience, I will further guide and support you through the gentle release of trauma/stuck energy that has been stored in the body, allowing you to recover and reclaim parts of your true Self.

What can I expect?

We will begin with a check-in to learn about what has been coming up for you and what you are looking to receive, release, and/or explore. Guided by your intention, I will invite you to tune into your body and connect with your breath and your felt-sense. Through deep listening we will follow your body’s lead, allowing your felt-sense to guide us where we need to go. Your felt-sense may express itself through sensations (such as tingling, numbness, temperature, pain, tension etc.), emotions, thoughts, or a deep knowing. As we enter into a conversation with your body-mind, I will bring grounding, compassionate awareness to the regions that are expressing themselves, and will support you through the gentle release of this energy. The premise of somatic therapy is that when we free up energy and reclaim the space within ourselves, we can restore connection. In doing so, we can come to integrate and accept pieces of our past, come back into the present moment, and get in touch with who we really Are, and our Highest potential.

A typical Integrative Somatic Therapy session is 1.5 to 2 hours. If you are new to ISTP, I recommend booking an introductory package of 3 or 6 sessions, to give yourself the opportunity to delve into the practice. If you have any questions, please reach out or book a free 15-minute consultation with me.
